What music do you clean best to?

As I was scrubbing the oven grate, and some drum and bass music played on KEXP, I started scrubbing to the beat. I began to wonder what the best music for cleaning is. I recall growing up, we’d listen to the Andrews Sisters on Saturday “Fine Bin” day…where Mom would put anything of yours that was not in your room in a plastic bin and theoretically would fine you a nickel for whatever she found. I’m not sure I ever got charged. Oh well, you can send me the bill now, Mom. Any-who, what music do you clean best to?

  1. I love your blog, Edward, so transparent and refreshing. One of these days I will work on mine in earnest. The neat thing about the fine bin cleaning was that we would try to finish the whole house by the time the album was done. That kept the job from dragging out, and got our heart rates up.

I still clean to music but now I listen to some upbeat Christian music, which gets my mind upward, while my house gets cleaner. But if I had the Andrews Sisters, I’d use them also, all good music is in CA. It is still aerobic cleaning and I put in extra dance steps when I can. Oh, by the way, Dad and I dance every chance we get, and we plan to continue….. but I would be rich if I fined him for leaving stuff out of place. (I wonder why he calls me Gracie?) who needs a segue.

  2. Thanks for your comments, Mom. I look forward to your next update.

I agree, depressing music is hard to clean to. I can’t clean well to The Cure…I need something with a fast drumbeat and some stoic sentiments. Maybe pirate music would be best.
