San Jose
Kei and I took a trip to San Jose last weekend. We visited Kei’s niece and nephew, Eryk and Carolyne, while their parents went to a holiday party. Before they left, Tomi, Kei and the children and I went to the local ice skating rink for their ice skating lessons. Here is a video of…

Footprints in the snow
Footprints in the snow Originally uploaded by meherenow. Seattle was dusted with a couple of inches of snow today. The photo to the right shows Kei’s footprints leading to the bus stop. Roads are very icy today. Luckily I only need to walk a mile to work. Otherwise I’d need to stay home with a…

Cool new mac stuff
Apple releases the iPhone, iTV, and other cool stuff. I must say that phone is really impressive. It has an accelerometer(!) that detects if the phone is in landscape and portrait mode…and no buttons, save an off button. Unfortunately, they don’t sell it unlocked. You must sign over your first born to Sin-gular in order…

Shabu Shabu
Operation veg drop Originally uploaded by meherenow. Kei and I took Jordan out for Shabu Shabu. Shabu Shabu is a dinner where you are forced to cook your own food. It’s called shabu shabu, because of the sound your flesh makes when you get too close to the fire cone emanating from the pot.

Sugarfree Gatorade Tablets
I’m sold on Nuun. No, it’s not a swedish nun. It’s these little tablets you drop in water to make it into gatorade. It’s sugarfree, portable, and helps you avoid dehydration. I take them when I sail. I used to have to take bottles of gatorade. Not only was it annoying to have to stock…

The next day on Christmas we opened gifts in the morning and then headed to Kate and Jordan’s for brunch. Heidi showed up and…

Pandora’s Boom Box
I’m digging the online radio station Pandora. Calling themselves a music genome project, they play music that you haven’t heard but will like based on a few albums or artists that you enter. It’s like a radio station for everybody. You have to create an account after trying it out so they can support it…

Power back on
It actually went on Friday at 10:00 am, about 15 minutes after Kei, Bertie and I motored toward the vet. I was still at the office when I wrote my last post, and didn’t know the power was back. So we quickly ramped back into the holiday spirit, our motors in overdrive.

Power still out, we’re OK
Nina, Jeff, Pankaj, Philip and I went to Oaktree Cinemas tonight to watch “Casino Royale” for our holiday party — in an effort to go ahead on schedule during our emergency situation. The power is out in about 40% of Seattle right now, according to Seattle City Light and may be out until Sunday in…

Heavy winds rock the Northwest, Local Chameleon in trouble
What is probably going to be the worst wind storm in Seattle in 3 million years is going to hit tonight. I’m stocking up on batteries, water and munchy trail mixy snacks. I’m not sure what to do with Bertie. I may get some hot water bottles from Walgreens and fill them up for some…
